I just got my "new" Chambers wall oven delivered yesterday. I feel like a kid who's just gotten a new toy! Haven't felt this excited since the new bicycle in 1971!! :-) I really like my new oven (it's WAY COOL), but am a bit mystified about it. The manual I have (not the one that came with it but the only one I could find) says something about a "thermostat bulb". Mine doesn't appear to have such an animal (not even a socket where it's supposed to go.) Also, the manual says something about a broiler pan, which mine didn't come with (I was happy that it still had it's 2 original racks and heating elements!!) I'm sure the biggest problem is that the manual I have doesn't match my unit.

I'm hoping to find someone who has one similar to mine so they can send me pictures of these items I'm missing. Also, I'd be willing to pay to have the manual that matches my unit reproduced for me. My oven is stainless steel, with the timer (works flawlessly!!) and the auto shut-off valve. I don't know how else to describe it, but can send more info or pics if someone has questions.

    Thanks for your help.

I think Eric's is a terrific resource - very glad you passed his name on. I heard similar feedback from another fellow too ("plumert", I believe it was??) I didn't mind waiting considering the price. And he was good on his service - he communicates the status well and does what he say's he'll do.

Overall, I highly recommend Eric. He has also recently lowered his prices and will move a stove across country for probably less than half what other services will. Do you feel like doing a separate post for folks with his contact info? It's good to have the name of a shipper when you find a GOTTA HAVE! on e-Bay.

    Tura,
So Eric finally delivered. What did you think of the service after you got your new wall oven?
I know this is off topic so you can PM or email me.

If someone is interested in shipping we can always let them know if the question comes up.

    Hi Tom,
Hey, it's great to hear from you again too!! Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself all the time!!

I'm leaving for a week of vacation tomorrow. I'll try to get some pics posted when I get back. I also picked up a little stainless-steel 4-burner Chambers cooktop. I'll post those pics too. I wanted to have my Model B, plus the extra oven, plus the extra cooktop, for my new kitchen. So that's why I've been collecting stuff. The cooktop is more recent - it's actually got electronic ignition - so it's probably got the heart of a Kitchen-Aid, I suppose. But it went nicely with the theme of the other items.

My restoration on the Model B is coming along nicely now that I got another frame to use. I was kinda stuck before on the oven door that wouldn't shut properly, and my "fix-it" job with a hammer let it finally shut, but the porcelain was hitting against the other when the skins was on and I didn't want to go thru all the effort of a restore and then have a sub-standard oven door. So I found a PAIR of Model B's for sale locally. So between my original stove, this pair of Model B's, and a Model C I had found for a song, I have lots of parts to pick from - it's been great! My new frame is so nice that I'm finding things right with it that I never knew was wrong with my old frame. I'm also seeing scary things about some of the parts that I hope folks are checking on when they get their "new" stoves. For example, one of the burners from the parts stoves had a big hold burned thru it where the regular little flame holes were - if lit, it would have been a nice little blowtorch. It pays to take your stove apart and look at things and it's not hard to do. The Chambers stoves are probably one of the easiest of all vintage stoves to disassemble. All you need is a manual and a camera to help you remember what-went-where.

Ok, time for me to get ready for work. I'll work on posting pics when I get back. One thing I plan to do is to create an anthology of pictures of the stove stripped to the frame, and then pics of the pieces going back on it.
